Dhubri: The student wing of the United Democratic Students’ Front (UDSF) at Pramathesh Barua College, Gauripur, has demanded that the upcoming Dhubri–Phulbari bridge be named in memory of late music icon Zubeen Garg.
During a demonstration on campus, student leaders recalled Zubeen Garg’s deep emotional connection with the Brahmaputra, noting that he had once expressed his wish for his mortal remains to be set afloat in the river after his demise. “He lived in the hearts of all Assamese, and it would be a fitting tribute to honor his legacy by naming the bridge after him,” said one of the protesters.
