11 Hospitalised in Assam’s Sadiya After Consuming Wild Mushrooms, Condition Stable

Guwahati, March 30: At least eleven people, including children, were admitted to a civil hospital in Sadiya on March 30 after reportedly consuming wild mushrooms, prompting health authorities to issue a caution over foraged food.

All those affected belong to Rukmini Deuri village in the area and include individuals across age groups, from as young as two years to 60 years. The patients have been identified as Sumbari Deuri (60), Abhijit Deuri (45), Ujjwal Deuri (4), Niranjan Deuri (2), Mamoni Deuri (30), Kujay Deuri (56), Mitali Deuri (55), Radhika Deuri (12), Nani Deuri (35), Manjit Deuri (19), and Projesh Deuri (20).

Hospital officials confirmed that the patients are currently under treatment and observation, with no fatalities reported so far. Their conditions are being closely monitored by medical staff.

Local health authorities have urged residents to avoid consuming unidentified wild mushrooms, warning that several naturally occurring varieties can be toxic and pose serious health risks.
