12th Edition of the Inter-School Drama Competition held

Guwahati: The 12th Edition of the Inter-School Drama Competition 2025–26, organized by Modern English School, Kahilipara, brought a vibrant celebration of creativity and theatre to life at the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Auditorium, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, on November 1. The event opened with a moving tribute to late music legend Zubeen Garg, honouring his enduring contribution to Assam’s cultural landscape.

Ten leading schools from across Guwahati showcased their dramatic brilliance under the theme “Co-Existence”, with performances that reflected empathy, social harmony, and youthful imagination. The competition reaffirmed its stature as one of the city’s premier platforms for nurturing young theatre talent.

Renowned film and theatre artists Amrita Gogoi and Jayanta Madhab Bora graced the event as Chief Guests, while the jury panel featured theatre veterans Dipak Nath, Sunit Kr. Bora, and Pranami Bora.

In a dazzling showcase of skill, Green Valley Public School emerged as the Best Drama Team for their play “Bhagorua Eti Xopun,” followed by Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Silpukhuri and Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School as first and second runners-up, respectively. Mriganga Raj Roy and Ayesha Siddika bagged top acting honours.

Applauding the participants, Principal Jonali Das said, “This competition is more than a contest—it’s a tribute to imagination and teamwork.” True to the event’s spirit, Modern English School stepped aside from receiving any awards, reaffirming its commitment to promoting the performing arts among students.
