Nagaon: The 28th Inter-District Yoga Sports Competition, organized by the Assam Yoga Association, recognized by the Assam Olympic Association and Yoga Federation of India, concluded successfully.
The three-day event, held from November 14 to 16, took place at the Indoor Stadium of Gopinath Dev Goswami Commerce College in Nagaon.
Over 700 players from 28 districts participated in the competition, which was inaugurated by Dr Mriganka Saikia, Principal of the college. The noted athlete Commonwealth games gold medalist Arjun Awardee Smt. Nayanmoni Saikia attended as Special Guest. Dr Krishna Kumar Bora, Chairman of Assam Yoga Association, Tapan Kumar Das, President Assam Yoga Association, Nitya Sarma and Kamaleswar Baruah, Vice president and other dignitaries were present during the inauguration.

The competition saw the distribution of several awards, including the Lakshmi Kanta Bora Memorial Award, Best Sports Organizer Award, and the Photik Chandra Sarma Memorial Award. Udita Rani Borah was declared the best athlete and received the Lalit Chandra Hazarika Memorial Award.
In the sub-junior category, Arnab Sarma from Bajali and Drishna J R Chandra excelled, while in the junior category, Sandeep Sarma and Udita Rani Borah shone.
In the senior category, Ankar Jyoti Nath and Rekha Yadav were declared the best.
The best team award was given to Nagaon district, followed by Kamrup district in second place and Sonitpur district in third. The competition was successfully managed by Bichitra Ranjan Borah, Technical Director of Assam Yoga Association.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr Utpal Borah, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer, Nagaon; Manik Pradhan, Asian Yoga Referee from West Bengal; and other notable personalities.
Shri Prabhat Chandra Bora, General Secretary, Assam Yoga Association expressed gratitude to Gokul Mohan Hazarika and his family for their continuous support in providing medals and awards for the competition.
