3rd Hockey India Junior Women Academy Championship Begins in Kurukshetra on November 16

Sports Desk: The 3rd Hockey India Junior Women Academy Championship 2025 (Zone A & B) is set to begin at Kurukshetra University, Haryana, from Sunday, November 16, with the final scheduled for November 23. Fifteen academy teams from across the country will vie for top honours in this major grassroots development tournament.

The teams are divided into four pools — A, B, C and D — and will compete in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the Semi-Finals on November 21, followed by the 3rd/4th place match and the Final on November 23.

The opening match between Ghumanhera Riser’s Academy and Tamil Nadu Hockey Academy promises an exciting start. Strong contenders such as Odisha Naval Tata Hockey HPC, Roundglass Punjab Hockey Club Academy, Khalsa Hockey Academy (Amritsar), and Jai Bharat Hockey Academy feature across the pools.

Teams will earn three points for a win and one for a draw, with tied classification matches decided via shoot-outs. Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said the championship plays a crucial role in identifying future national players, while Secretary General Bola Nath Singh highlighted the event’s importance in strengthening India’s grassroots hockey structure.

The tournament is expected to deliver a week of high-intensity hockey and spotlight emerging stars from academies across the country.
