North Lakhimpur: The 53rd Foundation Day and Freshers’ Social of Lakhimpur Commerce College, North Lakhimpur was held on September 4 last. The day- long programme began with the hoisting of the flag by Dr. Lohit Hazarika, Principal of the college followed by Swaheed Tarpan by Sazzad Hussain, Vice- Principal of the college. An open session was held for that occasion which was inaugurated by Dr. Hemanta Kumar Baruah, founder Principal of the college. The open session was chaired by Principal Dr. Lohit Hazarika and attended by Dr. Mukul Ch. Bora, Vice Chancellor of North Lakhimpur University as the chief guest. Dr. Dudumoni Bhuyan, President of Governing Body of the college and Dr. Rama Nanda Saikia, eminent surgeon and visual artist attended the session as appointed speakers. Eminent alumni Biswanath Dutta also attended the session as an invited guest. The Research Journal of Lakhimpur Commerce College and its annual newsletter LCom News were also released on that occasion. Entrepreneur and proprietor of Gramyanubhuti rural tourism Dikpol Lahan, retired Professor Balobhadra Phookan, retired Principal (i/c) Jiten Sarmah, retired office Head Assistant Parama Phukan, Jagat Dutta, retired library assistant Deba Kr. Dutta also attended the session.
