Gangtok, June 2: In a notable organisational development for the Bharatiya Janata Party in Sikkim, 62 families formally joined the party during a programme held at Yuksom in Geyzing district, coinciding with the visit of BJP Sikkim State President D.R. Thapa.
The event saw participation from senior party leaders, including State Vice President N.K. Subba, General Secretary Dinesh Chandra Nepal, Geyzing District President Digum Limboo, Mandal President Kinzang Sherap Bhutia and other organisational functionaries.
Addressing the gathering, D.R. Thapa highlighted various welfare schemes and development initiatives associated with the BJP-led government and called upon party workers and new members to contribute collectively towards the development and empowerment of people in Sikkim.
State Vice President N.K. Subba welcomed the new members into the party fold and outlined ongoing organisational activities and expansion efforts across the state. Kinzang Sherap Bhutia also spoke on grassroots-level initiatives and the party’s structure within the constituency.
During the programme, Thapa distributed Ayushman Cards and e-Shram Cards to eligible beneficiaries, aimed at providing access to healthcare coverage of up to ₹5 lakh and various social security benefits.
Earlier, the BJP delegation visited the historic Norbugang Monastery in Yuksom, the first capital of Sikkim, where prayers were offered for the state’s development and the strengthening of the party organisation.
Party leaders described the induction of 62 families as a reflection of growing organisational support in the region and a step forward in expanding the party’s presence in Sikkim.
