Basugaon Students Felicitated for Republic Day Participation in Delhi

Chirang: A warm felicitation ceremony was organised in honour of two meritorious students of Netaji Subhash Higher Secondary School, Basugaon, who were invited to attend the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on January 26. Jayraj Saha and Dewarjya Baidya were accorded a cordial welcome on their return for bringing laurels to the institution and the region.

The felicitation programme was organised by the Basugaon Netaji Statue and Park Committee. On the eve of the event, tributes were paid to the recently retired teacher and eminent personality Late Subhash Chandra Choudhury and noted social worker Late Nitai Dey, remembering their contributions to society and education.

On the occasion, Kaliprasanna Mandal, Principal of Basugaon Netaji Subhash Higher Secondary School, and Sudhanya Das, mentor teacher of the students, were felicitated in recognition of their guidance and efforts. Speaking on the occasion, mentor teacher Sudhanya Das highlighted how the school’s Atal Tinkering Lab and the dedicated efforts of teachers played a crucial role in enabling the students to achieve this rare opportunity.

Invited by NITI Aayog, headed by the Prime Minister, the students visited the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya and Rashtrapati Bhavan, and also interacted with Union Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh. They were later felicitated by various organisations, including the Basugaon BTC Bengali Youth Students’ Federation and Dr Ambedkar Bhawan Samiti. Several dignitaries attended the programme, which was enriched by cultural performances and hosted by teacher and social worker Bishal Paul.
