BTC Assembly Passes Rs 72.74 crore Supplementary Grants

Kokrajhar: The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Legislative Assembly on Wednesday approved the Supplementary Demand (II) for Grants under the Normal Budget 2025–26 and passed a major education reform Bill during a Special Session held at the Council Assembly House, Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar.

The session, presided over by Speaker Tridib Daimari, opened with discussions on the Supplementary Demand (II), which sought an additional allocation of ₹72.74 crore from the Council’s own revenue receipts for 12 entrusted departments. After deliberations, the House gave its approval to the proposal.

The Supplementary Demand also included a provision of ₹1.15 crore towards payment of arrear fixed pay to employees appointed under CSB and Non-CSB in five entrusted line departments. These employees had not been covered during the earlier Supplementary Demand (I) Budget Session.

Subsequently, BTC Executive Member for Education Rabiram Narzary tabled The Bodoland Territorial Council Education (Provincialisation of Services and Re-organisation of Educational Institutions) Bill, 2025. The Bill was taken up for discussion, during which members shared their views on strengthening the education system within the BTC area.

After detailed deliberations, the House passed the Bill, clearing the way for restructuring of educational institutions and provincialisation of services under the Council’s jurisdiction. The move is expected to bring administrative clarity, improve service conditions of educational staff, and enhance the overall functioning of schools and institutions in the Bodoland Territorial Region.
