Two-day district level SMC RP training in Sonitpur

Tezpur: A two–day District Level School Management Committee (SMC) Resource Person Training, organised by Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Mission, Sonitpur district, concluded on on Tuesday which was began on Monday at three venues in Tezpur — PM Shri Tezpur Collegiate HSS, Tezpur Govt. Boys’ HSS, and Rashtrabhasha Vidyalaya covering four Educational Blocks of Sonitpur District with participation of 238 members including CRCCs of all the clusters and selected teachers.

On the first day, MLA of Tezpur, Prithiraj Rabha, attended the training at Tezpur Govt. Boys’ HSS and inspired the participants with his motivational address. He highlighted that active and responsible SMCs are the backbone of community participation in schools, sharing examples of how collective effort can transform the education scenario. He urged SMC members to take ownership of school development, monitor student progress, and create a supportive learning environment.

The training sessions were led by Resource Persons (RPs) drawn from BRPs and CRCCs across the district, who played a crucial role in the programme. They shared their inputs through presentations, group activities, motivational videos, and interactive discussions on different flagship initiatives of Samagra Shiksha. The RPs also guided participants on roles and responsibilities of SMCs, strategies for reducing dropout rates, enhancing enrolment, and promoting inclusive education. Their field-based experiences and practical examples added great value to the sessions.

The programme was coordinated by DPO (CM) Krishna Kanta Deka, while DPO Monoj Gohain also addressed the participants and encouraged them to act as strong community leaders for better school governance. Venue in-charges and monitoring officers ensured smooth and effective conduct of the training. The training will go a long way in strengthening participatory governance in schools, building stronger linkages between the community and educational institutions, and ultimately improving the quality of education in Sonitpur district.
