Guwahati: The Government of Assam has declared September 22 and 23 as Dry Days across the state as a mark of respect to the late legendary musician, singer, actor, and filmmaker Zubeen Garg, who passed away recently.
In a notification issued by the Excise Department, the government stated that in pursuance of its decision to extend the state mourning till September 23, all licensed premises selling liquor—including IMFL/beer outlets, country spirit shops, clubs, bars, wholesale warehouses, and retail counters (both ‘OFF’ and ‘ON’)—shall remain closed. No sale or serving of liquor will be permitted on these two days.
