Khonsa (Arunachal Pradesh), March 10: Security forces have apprehended a hardcore insurgent linked to the banned outfit National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khango faction) from Khonsa town in Tirap district, officials said.
Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team of the Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police launched a search operation in the Bank Colony area on March 8. The arrested insurgent has been identified as self-styled sergeant Puman Pansa. Authorities recovered a pistol, three live rounds of ammunition, and a mobile handset from his possession.
The insurgent is currently in custody for interrogation to gather further details about the outfit’s activities in the region. Tirap district, which shares a border with Nagaland, has a history of insurgent activity, prompting frequent operations by security forces to maintain peace and security.
