Guwahati, March 11: Numal Momin, Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, on March 11 said the opposition led by Gaurav Gogoi would face a decisive defeat in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections in Assam.
Extending what he described as “best wishes” to Gogoi and his team, Momin said opposition candidates would lose in every constituency they contest. He also claimed that Gogoi would suffer a heavy defeat if he chooses to contest from Jorhat.
The Bharatiya Janata Party leader further asserted that the 2026 Assembly elections would produce a historic outcome, predicting that the ruling party would secure a record-breaking victory in the state.
Momin said the election results would demonstrate continued public support for the ruling alliance and its governance in Assam. The 2026 Assembly election is expected to witness a keen contest between the BJP-led alliance and opposition parties led by the Indian National Congress.
