Pradyot Debbarma Rejects Split Rumours, Says Tipra Motha and Tiprasa Unity Cannot Be Broken

Agartala, March 13: Amid growing political speculation ahead of the elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on March 12 asserted that neither his party nor the unity of the Tiprasa people can be broken.

Addressing supporters after flagging off the THANSA Bike Rally at Lembucherra in West Tripura district, Debbarma dismissed speculation that some legislators of the Tipra Motha Party may switch allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the council polls.

He stated that the real strength of the party lies not in political designations but in the collective identity and unity of the indigenous Tiprasa community. Debbarma said that beyond positions such as MLAs, MDCs or even Bubagra, all members of the community ultimately share the same identity as Tiprasa.

Urging party workers to focus on the larger cause, he asked them to set aside their titles for the coming month and concentrate on safeguarding the rights, identity and future of indigenous people. Debbarma maintained that rumours about a split within the party were unfounded and emphasised that the bond among the indigenous community remains strong.

He also declared that he was ready to face any political challenge as long as the poor and marginalised indigenous people continued to stand with him. In a strongly worded remark, Debbarma warned those he believes are attempting to weaken him politically, describing himself as a “Kshatriya and a warrior” who remains determined to fight for the rights of his community.

Calling on party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the council elections, he urged them to reach every village and emphasise that the movement represents a broader struggle rather than a quest for political office.

Debbarma concluded by reiterating that the movement would not compromise on the rights of indigenous people, stating that the struggle is aimed at securing a better future for the next generation and the welfare of the poor within the community.
