Sun Pharma Launches Skill Training Program for Women in Kamrup

Guwahati: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., in collaboration with Orion Educational Society, has launched a skill training program for 100 women in Kamrup district to foster economic independence and sustainable livelihoods. The initiative will train participants as General Duty Assistants (GDA), equipping them with essential healthcare skills for employment in hospitals, clinics, and home care.

The program was inaugurated at the Mirza Training Centre in the presence of dignitaries including Rashmi Baruah Gogoi, ACS, Co-District Commissioner, Palashbari; Dr. Angkita Sarma, Circle Officer, Palashbari; Dr. Ranjit Mohapatra, AVP and Site Head, Sun Pharma Guwahati Plant; and Avinash Chauhan, Head of Corporate Affairs, Sun Pharma, Guwahati Plant, along with Sun Pharma team members and representatives from Orion Educational Society.

Commending the initiative, Gogoi said, “This is a significant step towards empowering women in our community. Such programs are vital for inclusive growth and social upliftment.” Dr. Sarma added, “We hope these trainees become role models for others in the region.”

 Chauhan emphasized Sun Pharma’s commitment to social responsibility, noting, “This partnership with Orion will help these women become self-reliant contributors to society.”

Since 2007, Orion Educational Society has trained over 1 lakh beneficiaries across India. This program aligns with Sun Pharma’s focus on health, education, sustainability, and women’s empowerment, strengthening pathways to livelihood and social progress.
