STF Detains Suspected Jihadi in Barpeta Road

Guwahati: The Assam Police Special Task Force (STF) has detained a suspected jihadi during a targeted operation at Barpeta Road, intensifying the ongoing crackdown on extremist elements in the state. The detained individual has been identified as Mustafizur Rahman. According to sources, the operation was carried out based on intelligence gathered during the interrogation of two suspected jihadists who were arrested earlier in connection with the same investigation.

Investigators reportedly obtained crucial leads during questioning, which pointed to Rahman’s alleged involvement. Acting on this information, STF personnel launched a swift operation in Barpeta district and detained him from Barpeta Road. Officials believe the detention could help uncover further details about the suspected network and its possible links. However, authorities have not yet disclosed specific information regarding the alleged activities or affiliations of the accused.

Security officials said Rahman will be subjected to further interrogation as part of the ongoing investigation. They added that the questioning may provide important clues about the wider network and determine whether additional individuals are involved. The STF has been conducting a series of operations across the state as part of its efforts to dismantle suspected extremist networks.
