Agartala, March 16: The government of Tripura has announced a 5 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, a move expected to benefit more than two lakh people across the state.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Manik Saha in the Tripura Legislative Assembly on March 16 after the presentation of the state budget on the second day of the ongoing session.
Saha stated that the decision was taken despite financial constraints faced by the state government, with the objective of providing relief to government employees and pensioners.
According to the announcement, the revised DA and DR will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
Officials said the hike will benefit around 1.2 lakh regular government employees as well as 81,019 pensioners and family pensioners in the state.
The government also noted that the decision will place an additional financial burden of nearly ₹500 crore on the state exchequer.
