Bodo Song “POCSO Rape” Sparks Outrage Over Sensitive Content

Guwahati, March 17: A Bodo song titled “POCSO Rape” by Practical Basumatary has gone viral on social media, provoking widespread criticism for its perceived insensitive treatment of serious issues like rape and child protection under the POCSO Act.

Civil society groups and concerned citizens condemned the song, describing it as irresponsible and potentially harmful, particularly for younger audiences. Critics said that the content trivialises grave crimes and could undermine public understanding of laws designed to protect children.

Several organisations and citizens have urged authorities, including the Assam Police, to investigate the matter and take action if legal provisions were violated. They also called on Bodo Harimu Afad to enforce cultural accountability and ethical standards in artistic expression.

The controversy has reignited discussions on responsible content creation and the need for heightened awareness about ethical boundaries in music and other media, particularly when dealing with sensitive social issues.
