AIUDF Leader Rezaul Karim Sarkar Alleges Pradyut Bordoloi Worked for BJP, Hints at More Congress Exits

Guwahati, March 18: Reacting to the resignation of Pradyut Bordoloi from the Indian National Congress, Rezaul Karim Sarkar, an All India United Democratic Front candidate from Srijangram, alleged that the former MP had long been acting in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Speaking to reporters during his election campaign, Sarkar claimed he had earlier described Bordoloi as aligned with the BJP, adding that this was the reason Bordoloi allegedly distanced himself from him after Sarkar joined the Congress.

He further intensified his criticism by suggesting that more leaders could exit the Congress in the coming days. Sarkar named senior leader Debabrata Saikia as a possible defector and alleged that individuals with links to the BJP were present within the circle of Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi.

The remarks come amid ongoing internal turbulence within the Congress in Assam, where a series of resignations have raised concerns over organisational stability ahead of crucial elections.

Sarkar also commented on the issue of candidate selection within the party, alleging that monetary influence often plays a role in ticket distribution. Referring to claims made by some party workers, he said that Nurul Islam had allegedly secured the party ticket through financial means, adding that such practices were not uncommon within the Congress.
