Shillong, March 18: When Daiaphi Lamare, popularly known as Reble, stepped onto the stage at the music launch of Dhurandhar: The Revenge in Mumbai on March 17, she did so as an emerging voice already making a mark in mainstream Bollywood music.
The Meghalaya-born artist features on “Aari Aari,” a track from the sequel’s soundtrack, marking her second consecutive appearance in the Dhurandhar franchise—an uncommon achievement for an independent rapper from the Northeast. Her growing presence reflects a steady rise from regional recognition to national visibility.
The event saw an energetic moment when actor Ranveer Singh, who plays undercover agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi in the film, actively cheered for Reble during her performance, drawing an enthusiastic response from the audience. She also shared the stage with Jasmine Sandlas, delivering a joint act that added to the evening’s momentum.
Hailing from Nangbah in West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, Reble discovered hip-hop at a young age and has often described the genre as a medium of expression and freedom. She adopted her stage identity to carve out a distinct artistic space, separate from societal expectations.
Her breakthrough came with the first Dhurandhar film in 2025, which emerged as a major commercial success, crossing ₹1,300 crore globally. Reble featured on three tracks in that project, including “Naal Nachna,” “Run Down The City – Monica,” and “Move – Yeh Ishq Ishq,” gaining wider recognition, particularly for her contribution to the remix of Asha Bhosle’s classic.
Despite the rapid rise, Reble has maintained a measured outlook on her journey, stating that she still sees herself as evolving within the hip-hop space. She has consistently emphasised the importance of representation, highlighting the need for greater visibility of talent from the Northeast in mainstream media.
During the event, Ranveer Singh expressed gratitude for the response to the first film and noted that anticipation for the sequel had exceeded expectations.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge is set for release on March 19 and features an ensemble cast including Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Sara Arjun alongside Ranveer Singh.
