‘Dighal Pathor Gaan’ Unveiled in Udalguri as Tangla Press Club Felicitates Achievers

Udalguri, March 20: A literary and cultural gathering in Assam’s Udalguri district saw the formal release of poet Arup Boro’s latest collection Dighal Pathor Gaan (Song of the Long Road), alongside a felicitation ceremony honouring distinguished individuals from diverse fields.

The event, organised by the Tangla Press Club, was held at the auditorium of Chilarai Bhawan. The book was unveiled by Moina Devi, a respected guardian from Tangla, in the presence of literary figures and community members. The programme was conducted by Asom Sahitya Sabha invitee Gaurishankar Das and presided over by Tangla Press Club president Phatik Nandan Rabha.

Writer Jyoti Prasad Kalita highlighted the themes and literary significance of the newly released work, while publisher and Udalguri Zila Sahitya Sabha secretary Dibakar Bora, along with Tangla Sahitya Sabha president Ghateswar Baruah, addressed the gathering.

On the same occasion, the Tangla Press Club felicitated several individuals for their achievements, including Dr. Mintu Pathak, who recently received an honorary doctorate from Bodoland University, sculptor Priyanka Basumatary, meritorious student Arindam Mani Das for earning an honorary Master of Science degree from Murdoch University, and senior journalist Nava Kumar Deka. The awardees, along with family representatives, expressed gratitude and shared their experiences during the ceremony.

The programme also featured poetry recitations and musical performances by Swarnalata Saikia, Jyoti Prasad Kalita, and Pawan Bania, adding a cultural dimension to the event.

Several prominent personalities, including representatives of literary and social organisations, attended the function. The event concluded with the national anthem, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Tangla Press Club secretary Arup Boro.
