Guwahati: The city witnessed an enthusiastic turnout as it hosted its first-ever children’s obstacle race, ‘Junior Circuit’, at Arya College Playground on Sunday, drawing hundreds of families to the unique outdoor event. Organised by Culture Club Preschool, the event brought together around 250 children aged between 3 and 15 years, along with nearly 300 parents. Unlike conventional competitions, the race avoided rankings and timings, focusing instead on participation, activity, and engagement.
Participants took on a nearly one-kilometre course featuring 15 obstacles, including crawling tunnels, balance beams, and cargo nets. In a distinctive format, parents were allowed to accompany their children, turning the event into a collaborative and enjoyable family experience rather than a competitive race.

Founder Nikhil Mozika said the initiative aims to promote physical activity while fostering confidence and resilience among children. He noted that the overwhelming response reflects a growing demand for community-driven outdoor activities that offer an alternative to screen-based lifestyles.
Organisers also highlighted increasing concerns over sedentary habits among children, stating that such events provide a structured yet engaging platform to encourage active play. In keeping with the inclusive spirit of the programme, all participants who completed the course were recognised. Encouraged by the strong response, organisers plan to expand ‘Junior Circuit’ into a recurring event, positioning it as a regular family-oriented outdoor activity in Guwahati.
