BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ Based on Inputs from Over 3 Lakh People, Says Sarbananda Sonowal

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections has been prepared through an extensive public consultation process, with more than three lakh people contributing suggestions.

Detailing the exercise, Sonowal stated that party workers conducted outreach across Assam, engaging directly with residents and collecting feedback through door-to-door interactions. He said the manifesto reflects these inputs and has been positioned as a “historic document” shaped by public participation.

According to him, the initiative was aimed at aligning policy priorities with people’s expectations. He described the process as an example of participatory governance, asserting that the document embodies the voice of citizens and serves as a roadmap for future development.

Sonowal added that the party intends to implement its commitments based on the proposals outlined in the manifesto if it secures a third consecutive term in office.

Expressing confidence in the party’s electoral prospects, he indicated that the BJP-led alliance is targeting a strong mandate in the 126-member Assembly, stating that it is “close to 100” seats along with its allies.

The ‘Sankalp Patra’ is expected to remain central to the BJP’s campaign strategy, with the party projecting it as a people-driven agenda ahead of the upcoming polls.
