Chhaygaon: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma spearheaded an intensive election drive across five Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs), addressing a series of rallies under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s “Vijay Sankalp Sabha”. At a major rally in Palasbari LAC, Sarma campaigned for BJP candidate Himangshu Shekhar Baishya, highlighting the government’s achievements and unveiling a host of promises. He stated that while the opposition had earlier doubted the pledge of one lakh jobs, the government has already provided employment to 1.65 lakh youths. If re-elected, he promised two lakh more jobs, including in police, education, and healthcare sectors.

The Chief Minister also announced a series of welfare measures, including financial assistance of ₹25,000 for women and ₹35,000 support for those left out of the Orunodoi scheme. He added that monthly Orunodoi benefits would be increased to ₹3,000 and that 10,000 new beneficiaries would be included in Palasbari. Sarma further promised free LPG cylinders twice a year and highlighted the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan, under which eligible youths would receive ₹2 lakh financial assistance. He also outlined development plans, including a medical college, new educational institutions, and a flyover at Mirza.
Earlier, Sarma addressed rallies in Abhayapuri, West Goalpara, Dudhnai, and Boko-Chaygaon constituencies, campaigning for party candidates including Bhupen Roy, Pabitra Rabha, Tankeswar Rabha, and Raju Mesh. The rallies witnessed significant public turnout, reflecting the BJP’s intensified campaign push ahead of the polls.
