Six Arrested in Manipur for Attempting to Snatch Police Weapons Amid Curfew

Imphal, April 10: Six individuals have been arrested in Manipur for allegedly attempting to snatch firearms from security personnel and violating curfew restrictions imposed in the wake of a recent bomb blast in Bishnupur district, officials said on April 10.

According to the Manipur Police, the persons have been identified as Yangoijam Borish Singh (23), Mangsatabam David Singh (21), Pangambam Nivash Meitei (22), Laitonjam Romen Singh (22), Phairenjam Tony (21), and Ningthoujam Denish Singh (22).

Police stated that the arrests were carried out on April 9 at Ahallup Makha Leikai under the jurisdiction of Heingang Police Station. The accused allegedly assaulted security personnel and attempted to snatch weapons during the incident.

Authorities have emphasised that strict action is being taken against those violating curfew orders, as security remains heightened in the region following the recent blast. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
