Kohima, April 11: The Nagaland U-19 men’s and women’s boxing team is set to compete in the Youth (U-19) National Boxing Championship 2026, scheduled to be held in Guwahati from April 12 to 19.
The eight-member contingent includes five male boxers, one female boxer, along with a team manager and coach, who will represent the state at the national level.
In the men’s category, the team features Mhasivilie (47 kg), Bibek (50 kg), Kulungoi (55 kg), Ilkungkeu (60 kg), and Kalamthai (65 kg). Veno (60 kg) will represent Nagaland in the women’s division.
The team will be managed by Asang and coached by N Akokla Tzudir, a Nagaland Police boxing coach who holds an AIBA (International Boxing Association) Star 1 certification.
Officials have expressed optimism about the team’s prospects, stating that the young boxers are well-prepared to deliver strong performances and aim to bring recognition to Nagaland at the prestigious national event.
