Security Forces Destroy Bunkers, Seize Arms and Narcotics in Manipur Operations

Imphal, April 12: Manipur Police and security forces carried out a series of coordinated operations across the state on April 10 and 11, leading to the destruction of multiple bunkers, seizure of arms and explosives, and the arrest of two individuals in separate cases.

In Ukhrul district, a major operation on April 11 resulted in the demolition of 14 bunkers at Sikibung and seven more at Mongkot Chepu villages under Litan police station. Security personnel also recovered 11 empty cases from the sites during the operation.

In a separate operation on April 10, police arrested two individuals from Hiangtan village under Behiang police station in Churachandpur district. The accused, identified as H. Kamtunmung (50) and Paulianlal (49), both residents of Vengnuam Singngat, were found in possession of 45 soap cases of brown sugar. A Maruti Gypsy, two mobile phones, and two bags were also seized during the raid.

Meanwhile, on April 11, security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives from the tri-junction area of Maojang, Libung, Gomnom, and T Khonunjang under Moreh police station in Tengnoupal district. The haul included two 9mm pistols with magazines and 13 improvised explosive devices, which were safely destroyed at the site. Additionally, two combat uniforms, a pair of jungle shoes, and a backpack were recovered.

Officials stated that the operations are part of ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities and illegal operations in the state, with intensified vigilance being maintained across sensitive regions.
