Gunfire at ULFA(I) chief’s kin’s house in Assam triggers panic

Guwahati, April 13: Unidentified miscreants opened fire at the residence of a relative of Paresh Baruah, the commander-in-chief of the banned outfit ULFA (Independent), in Assam late Sunday night, sparking panic in the area.

The incident reportedly took place around midnight at a village in Tinsukia district, where at least two assailants fired multiple rounds targeting the house of Baruah’s younger brother, Mission Baruah.

No casualties were reported in the firing, though the attack has raised serious security concerns in the region.

The attackers fled the scene immediately after carrying out the shooting.

Police have launched an investigation and stepped up security measures in the area to trace those involved. Further details are awaited.
