Man Arrested from Relief Camp in Manipur for Allegedly Posting Inflammatory Content Online

Imphal, April 21: Manipur Police has arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly posting inflammatory and threatening content on social media from a relief camp, raising concerns over attempts to incite unrest amid ongoing tensions.

The accused, identified as Louriyam Ajitkumar Singh, a resident of Motbung Mamang Leikai, was staying at Lamboi Khongnangkhong relief camp when he was found operating a Facebook account under the name “L. Ajit Singh.” Police said the account had shared provocative material, including threats and calls for violence, which could potentially disturb public order in Manipur.

Officials stated that the arrest followed monitoring of online activity, with the content flagged for its potential to inflame communal sentiments and trigger unrest. Investigators are now examining whether the accused acted independently or had links to a wider network, along with assessing the reach and impact of the posts.

The police reiterated that strict action would be taken against individuals attempting to spread violence or disrupt communal harmony through digital platforms.

The development comes days after another similar case in which Tensubam Lamyanba Meitei, a 23-year-old from Imphal East, was arrested on April 19 for allegedly posting provocative content through a Facebook account titled “Meetei Nongsa Lamyanba.” Authorities had raised concerns that those posts also contained threats and could incite unrest.

Police said investigations are ongoing in both cases to determine the extent of involvement and any possible connections.
