Gangtok, April 21: Prem Singh Tamang on Monday extended greetings to civil servants on the occasion of Civil Services Day, acknowledging their critical role in governance and public service delivery.
In a message shared on social media, the Chief Minister praised the dedication of officials, stating that their efforts translate government policies into tangible outcomes for citizens. Citing Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, he described civil servants as the “steel frame of India”.
“On the occasion of National Civil Services Day, I extend my warm greetings to all members of the civil services in Sikkim. Your dedication remains the backbone of governance,” he said.
Observed annually on April 21, Civil Services Day commemorates Patel’s address to probationers of Administrative Services Officers in 1947 in Delhi, where he underlined their vital role in nation-building.
Tamang urged officials to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and accountability, and called on them to continue strengthening public trust while ensuring effective governance.
He also expressed gratitude to civil servants for their contribution and emphasised the need to build a transparent, responsive and progressive Sikkim.
