Arunachal Boosts Dairy Output with Distribution of Pregnant Cattle in Longding

Itanagar, April 25: In a move to strengthen dairy production, the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy Development of Arunachal Pradesh on April 24 distributed 20 cattle, including 19 pregnant cows and one breeding bull, to dairy cooperative societies in Senua village of Longding district.

Senua village, located near Longding town, was selected after multiple rounds of surveys conducted by departmental officials. Authorities noted that local residents have prior experience in cattle rearing, which is expected to support effective implementation and management of the initiative.

The cattle were procured from Sahiwal district, a region known for high-yield dairy breeds. In a significant development, ten calves were born during transit and the subsequent quarantine period, further enhancing the dairy potential of the district.

Officials said the initiative is aimed at improving milk production while supporting rural livelihoods through cooperative-based dairy development.
