Guwahati, April 27: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Guwahati Group has initiated the Aqua Adventure Regatta 2026, bringing 100 cadets from Assam to Umiam Lake for a first-of-its-kind water-based training programme under the NCC North Eastern Region Directorate.
The ten-day camp, organised by 1 Assam Battalion NCC under the Guwahati Group from April 24 to May 3, marks the first large-scale effort to train both Army and Air Force Wing NCC cadets from the state in aquatic adventure activities. For many participants, it is their first experience with boating and related sports.
The programme is aimed at fostering qualities such as courage, teamwork and water confidence among young cadets, while also serving as a platform to identify and nurture emerging talent for future opportunities.
As part of the regatta, cadets are undergoing structured training in sailing and kayaking under the supervision of instructors from the Umiam Sailing Club. The initiative reflects the NCC’s broader effort to expand the scope of adventure training and introduce new skill-based experiences for cadets in Assam.
