Manipur Security Forces Seize Arms Cache, Demolish Illegal Bunkers in Twin Operations

Imphal, 29: Security forces in Manipur carried out coordinated operations on April 28, leading to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and explosives in Churachandpur district and the destruction of multiple illegal bunkers in Kangpokpi district, officials confirmed.

According to official reports, a search operation was conducted at Maovom village and nearby areas under Churachandpur Police Station. During the exercise, personnel recovered an AK-47 rifle, three single-barrel firearms, a pistol with a magazine, a pompi, two 35 mm grenades, and an 81 mm mortar bomb. The seized items have been taken into custody for further investigation and legal procedures.

In a separate but related operation on the same day, security forces dismantled five illegal bunkers located under Saikul Police Station in Kangpokpi district. The structures included one bunker at Tingpibung village, three at Lungter Hill, and another at Leplen village.

Officials stated that the actions form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen law and order in sensitive areas and curb unlawful activities. Authorities added that further investigations and area domination operations are continuing as part of sustained security measures across the region.
