Boko, May 2: Two leopard cubs were rescued from the Saikata area in Boko under the West Kamrup Forest Division in Assam on Sunday morning, officials said.
The operation was carried out around 11 a.m. by personnel from the Bandapara Regional Forest Office, with support from local residents. The rescue team, led by Range Officer Kulumanali Gogoi, successfully retrieved the cubs from the site without incident.
Following the rescue, veterinary experts conducted a health assessment of the animals. The cubs were subsequently shifted to the Assam State Zoo for safe custody, treatment and continued care.
Forest officials said the rescued cubs are estimated to be around three to four months old. The operation underscored coordinated efforts between the forest department and local villagers in safeguarding wildlife and ensuring the survival of the species.
