Charan Boro Retains Mazbat Seat with Massive Margin, Secures Third Consecutive Win

GUWAHATI, May 4: Assam cabinet minister and Bodoland People’s Front leader Charan Boro has retained the Mazbat Assembly constituency in Assam, defeating his nearest rival by a margin of over 55,000 votes, according to data from the Election Commission of India.

Boro secured 84,718 votes, while Priti Rekha Barla of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha polled 29,172 votes. The result marks his third consecutive victory from Mazbat, reinforcing his political standing in the region.

The decisive margin highlights sustained voter support for Boro in the constituency, which has remained a stronghold of his party in recent electoral cycles. His win also carries significance for the BPF, which continues to hold a strategic position within Assam’s political landscape despite a limited number of seats.

Boro, who was the sole BPF representative in the outgoing state cabinet, was inducted into the ministry in October last year after the party joined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government in the state.

With this victory, he is expected to retain considerable influence within both the state government and the party, as the BPF continues its alliance with the ruling coalition.
