JP Nadda Appointed BJP Central Observer for Assam Legislature Party Leader Election

National, May 5: The Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed Jagat Prakash Nadda as the Central Observer for the election of the BJP Legislature Party leader in Assam, following the party’s decisive victory in the 2026 Assembly elections.

According to an official statement, Nayab Singh Saini has been named as the Central Co-Observer for the process.

Nadda currently serves as Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers in the Government of India. His appointment, along with Saini’s, comes in the wake of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance securing a commanding mandate in Assam, clearing the way for the formation of a government for a third consecutive term.

The appointed observers are expected to supervise the meeting of newly elected BJP legislators, during which the leader of the Assam BJP Legislature Party will be formally elected, a key step in the government formation process.
