Suspected Militant Drone Attack Triggers Fresh Violence in Manipur’s Kamjong District

Imphal, May 7: Fresh violence erupted in the border areas of Kamjong district in the early hours of May 7 after suspected militants allegedly launched coordinated attacks on villages located near the Myanmar border.

According to sources, the attacks occurred around 2 am at Namlee Market and Choro village in the district. The assault is suspected to have been carried out by the Kuki National Army-B using drones, raising fresh concerns over the use of advanced methods in the conflict-affected hill regions of Manipur.

Sources said several houses were set on fire during the attack. However, no casualties had been officially confirmed at the time of reporting.

Security agencies are closely monitoring the situation, while details regarding the scale of the damage and the identities of those involved are still being ascertained.

The latest incident comes amid continuing tensions in Manipur’s sensitive border districts, where sporadic attacks and armed confrontations have repeatedly been reported over recent months.
