Amul Milk Price Hike Adds to Household Burden in Assam’s Dhubri

Dhubri, May 14: Residents across Assam have started feeling the impact of the latest Amul milk price hike, with people in Dhubri expressing concern over the rising cost of essential commodities and the growing strain on household budgets.

The revised milk prices came into effect on Thursday morning. According to local retailers, the price of Amul Gold has increased by ₹3 per litre, while Amul Shakti has become costlier by ₹2 per litre.

Consumers in Dhubri said the increase in milk prices has come at a time when the cost of other daily essentials, including eggs and grocery items, has also risen in local markets over the past few days.

Speaking to the media, several residents voiced frustration over the repeated increase in the prices of basic household necessities.

“Every few days, the prices of essential commodities are increasing, but our income remains the same,” a resident of Dhubri town said.

Another resident pointed out that milk remains an essential requirement for children and elderly family members, adding that continuous price hikes were making it increasingly difficult for ordinary families to manage their monthly expenses.

Retailers said they had no option but to revise prices after wholesale rates and supply chain costs increased.

A local grocer said shopkeepers often face public resentment despite having no role in determining market prices.

With inflationary pressure continuing to affect daily life, many families said they are now being forced to reduce consumption and rethink household spending patterns.
