Pawan Khera Appears Before Assam Crime Branch Again in Case Linked to Riniki Bhuyan Sarma

Guwahati, May 14: Congress leader Pawan Khera on Thursday appeared before the Assam Police Crime Branch in Guwahati for the second consecutive day in connection with cases filed by Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The cases were registered after Khera alleged that Riniki Bhuyan Sarma possessed multiple passports and undisclosed foreign properties. On Wednesday, the Congress leader was questioned for more than 10 hours by Crime Branch officials before being directed to appear again on Thursday morning.

Amid the ongoing legal and political developments, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma adopted a lighter tone while speaking to reporters and expressed optimism about the state’s future.

“I am confident that with the blessings of Mahamaya Maa Kamakhya, our state will move forward in the next five years. Assam’s peda taste is good,” Sarma remarked.

The Chief Minister made the comments shortly after attending official engagements following the formation of the new Assam government.

Earlier on May 13, Khera had stated that he was fully cooperating with the investigation and would continue to appear before the Crime Branch as directed by authorities.

The matter has intensified the political confrontation between the BJP and the Congress, with the legal proceedings already witnessing multiple rounds of hearings before the Supreme Court and the Gauhati High Court.
