Goalpara, May 18: An eight-year-old boy died after sustaining severe burn injuries in a tragic incident at Rampur in Agia under Assam’s Goalpara district.
The deceased was identified as Anuj Pratim Shivam.
According to reports, the incident occurred while the child was near his father, who was allegedly burning a pile of garbage after pouring petrol on it. During the process, the fire is reported to have spread suddenly and engulfed the child, leaving him critically injured.
Following the incident, Anuj was immediately taken to a private hospital in Guwahati for advanced treatment. However, despite medical intervention, he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The incident has triggered grief and shock among family members and local residents.
