Guwahati, May 19: The Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan, a week-long outreach initiative aimed at improving access to government welfare schemes and addressing public grievances in tribal areas, was formally launched at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s office in Amingaon, Kamrup.

The campaign, scheduled to run from May 18 to May 25, was inaugurated under the chairmanship of District Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra. The programme was attended by Boko-Chaygaon MLA Raju Mesh, Zilla Parishad CEO Siddharth Goswami, District Development Commissioner Sushanta Kumar Dutta, Additional Deputy Commissioners Geetashri Lachit, Aditya Gogoi and Monika Buragohain, along with other senior officials.

The initiative has been designed to strengthen the implementation and outreach of government programmes by creating greater awareness and ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive access to various schemes and services. Authorities stated that the campaign would focus on resolving grievances and identifying implementation gaps through direct interaction with residents.

As part of the programme, a range of activities including awareness drives, entitlement campaigns, village immersion programmes, health screening camps and Jan Sunwai sessions will be organised across the district. Officials said beneficiary feedback will also be collected during the exercise to assess service delivery and improve implementation mechanisms.

The District Commissioner said Adi Sewa Kendras would play a crucial role in ensuring effective outreach and coordination during the campaign. Activities under the initiative will include documentation exercises, village-level engagement and debriefing sessions in different locations.

According to officials, Kamrup district currently has 62 Adi Sewa Kendras covering multiple villages, including 47 centres in Boko, 11 in Bongaon, three in Bezera and one in Sualkuchi. The centres are expected to support the campaign by facilitating communication and assisting residents in accessing government services.
