Imphal, May 21: Security forces recovered a cache of arms, communication equipment and improvised explosive devices during an operation carried out in the area between Border Pillar No. 72 and 73 under Moreh Police Station in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district on May 20.
Officials said the operation led to the recovery of several items, including one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), a 9 mm pistol along with a magazine, four radio communication sets and a charger for the equipment.
During the search operation, security personnel also detected four improvised explosive devices (IEDs) concealed in the area. Following standard safety protocols, the explosives were destroyed at the site to eliminate any potential threat.
Authorities stated that the recovery took place as part of continuing security operations along the border region aimed at curbing the movement of weapons, explosives and other unlawful materials.
Officials added that further investigation has been initiated to determine the source of the recovered items and assess their possible intended use.
