Imphal, May 21: Manipur Police arrested four individuals, including a Myanmar national, and seized suspected cannabis and brown sugar during two separate anti-narcotics operations conducted across the state on May 20.
In the first operation, police apprehended two individuals during frisking and checking activities at the Irilbung Police Station check gate in Imphal East district. The arrested persons were identified as Yambem Sudhir Singh alias Sadananda (20), a resident of Lourembam Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district, and Thongam Bishal Singh alias Amujao (26), a resident of Taobungkhok Makha Leikai in Imphal West district.
According to police, approximately 3.3 kilograms of suspected raw ganja was recovered from their possession during the operation. Officials also seized a Honda Activa scooter bearing registration number MN06SH7426, a Stunner motorcycle with registration number MN01Y6799, and two mobile phones.
In a separate operation carried out at Singngat along National Highway-102B under Singngat Police Station in Churachandpur district, police arrested two more individuals, including a Myanmar national.
The arrested persons were identified as Khupsiankhai Vualnam (31), a resident of Phaimual village in Myanmar, and Doukhanlal Thangsing (34), a resident of Suangdai village in Churachandpur district.
Police said 55 soap cases containing suspected brown sugar weighing around 2.127 kilograms were recovered during the operation. A Kenbo motorcycle was also seized from the spot.
Authorities stated that investigations in both cases are continuing to determine possible links and trace wider networks involved in narcotics trafficking activities.
