Manipur Police Arrest Two UNLF(P) Cadres, Recover InSAS LMG in Counter-Insurgency Operations

Imphal, May 21: Manipur Police arrested two alleged cadres of the banned outfit UNLF (P) from Lamdeng in Imphal West district on Wednesday and recovered an InSAS light machine gun along with ammunition during the operation.

The arrested individuals were identified as Arambam Tomtom (29), a resident of Heibongpokpi Mayai Leikai under Lamsang in Imphal West district, and Heisnam Thomas, a resident of Mayang Imphal Kokchai.

According to police, security personnel recovered one InSAS light machine gun, three magazines and 14 live rounds of ammunition from their possession during the operation.

In a separate operation carried out a day earlier, security forces arrested an alleged active cadre recruiter linked to PREPAK (VC) from the Mantripukhri area under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East district.

The individual was identified as Laishram Surjit Meitei alias Nanao (29), a resident of Moirang Khunou Makha Leikai in Bishnupur district who was currently staying at Matai Mayai Leikai in Imphal East district.

Officials said a mobile phone was recovered from his possession at the time of the arrest.

The arrests were made as part of continuing counter-insurgency operations being conducted by security forces across Manipur to curb militant activities and strengthen security measures in the state.
