Kuki-Zo Council Withdraws Social Boycott on Kuki-Zo MLAs in Manipur

Imphal, May 21: The Kuki-Zo Council has withdrawn the social boycott imposed on Kuki-Zo legislators who took part in the formation of the Manipur government, ending a measure that had remained in force since February this year.

In a statement issued on May 20, the council announced that the boycott had been lifted with immediate effect after assessing the current circumstances and acknowledging what it described as the need for unity and collective cooperation.

The social boycott had originally been announced on February 5 following a resolution adopted by the Kuki-Zo Council cabinet. The action had been directed at Kuki-Zo MLAs who were associated with the process of government formation during a period marked by ongoing ethnic tensions and political uncertainty in Manipur.

The council stated that the matter was reconsidered during a meeting held on April 29. Following discussions and deliberations, the organisation decided to revoke the earlier order.

According to the statement, the decision officially ends the social boycott previously imposed on the Kuki-Zo legislators and takes effect immediately.
