Nagaon, May 22: An unidentified man was found dead on Dhing Road in Assam’s Nagaon on Friday morning, May 22, prompting concern among residents in the area and leading police to begin an investigation into the incident.
According to local sources, residents first spotted the body lying beside the roadside and immediately alerted the police. Personnel from Haibargaon Police Station later reached the spot and initiated necessary procedures.
Residents in the locality reportedly suspect that excessive alcohol consumption may have contributed to the man’s death. However, officials have not confirmed the cause and said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
Police said the identity of the deceased has not yet been established. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the precise cause of death.
