Udalguri-Sonitpur, May 23: A heinous incident has occurred in Orang, Udalguri district. The incident took place in Nepali Village, Udalguri, under the jurisdiction of the Orang Police Station. A 70-year-old man from the village raped his own 13-year-old niece.
As a result of this horrific crime, the 13-year-old girl became pregnant. The incident has caused intense sensation throughout the entire region.
According to the information of the case, the wife of Abdul Hakim (Mandal) of Orang had recently given birth to a baby. Following the birth, the niece was given the responsibility of assisting with the newborn’s care and helping with household chores at Mandal’s residence. Taking advantage of the situation while she was there to help the family, Abdul Hakim began raping his niece day and night. Eventually, when the niece complained of abdominal pain, she was examined by a medical officer. The medical examination proved that the niece had become pregnant.
Regarding this heinous incident, the girl’s guardians filed an FIR at the Orang Police Station.
Based on this complaint, a team led by the Officer-in-Charge of Orang Police Station, Hirakjyoti Das, along with police personnel Girin Boro, Raju Sen, Home Guard Manik De, and the Secretary of the Majorchuba Village Defence Party, Abdul Jalil, conducted an operation and successfully arrested the rapist, Abdul Hakim.
The Orang Police have already registered a case (No. 17/2026) under Sections 65(1), 64(2)(f), and 64(2)(m) of the BNS, read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act and Section 75 of the JJB Act.
The rapist, Abdul Hakim alias Mandal, was arrested and sent to Udalguri jail custody today.
