Manipur Police Seize Suspected Brown Sugar and 40,000 WY Tablets in Churachandpur

Imphal, May 23: Manipur Police seized suspected brown sugar and a large quantity of WY tablets after intercepting a vehicle during an anti-narcotics operation in Churachandpur district, officials said on Friday.

According to police, the operation was conducted on May 22 at a Temporary Motor Vehicle Check Post established in the Suangdoh village area under Singnat Police Station.

During the checking exercise, police stopped a Maruti Ignis bearing registration number MZ01AD-5474 and detained its occupant, identified as Siamkhansuan Samte (44), a resident of Gouchinkhup Veng in New Lamka, Churachandpur district.

A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the recovery of 33 soap cases containing suspected brown sugar along with 40,000 WY tablets weighing around 3.8 kilograms.

Officials said the police also seized the vehicle used in the transport operation and recovered a mobile phone from the possession of the accused.

The detained individual and the seized materials have been taken into custody for further legal procedures, while investigation into the case is continuing.
