Bongaigaon, May 23: A police constable lost his life following a late-night road accident in Assam’s Bongaigaon district on May 22, officials said.
The accident occurred at Raghunandanpur in the Boitamari area when the constable was reportedly travelling towards his place of duty and met with a serious road mishap.
The deceased was identified as Navjit Patowary, who was serving at the Boitamari Police Outpost.
According to reports, Patowary had been travelling from Bongaigaon towards the police outpost when the incident took place. He sustained critical injuries in the accident and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
Despite medical intervention, he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the circumstances surrounding the accident, and further details are awaited.
