Gangtok, May 25: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on May 24 congratulated Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai on her elevation as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, calling the appointment a landmark moment for the state.
In a message shared on Facebook, the Chief Minister said the development was a matter of immense pride and joy for Sikkim, noting that Justice Rai would be taking up one of the country’s highest judicial positions.
Justice Rai, who is currently serving as a judge of the Sikkim High Court, is set to become the first woman judge from Sikkim to be appointed as Chief Justice of a high court.
Tamang stated that the elevation represented a significant milestone and reflected Justice Rai’s dedication, integrity, experience and long-standing service to the judiciary.
He further said that her achievement would serve as an inspiration not only for people in Sikkim but also for aspiring individuals across the country.
On behalf of the state government and the people of Sikkim, the Chief Minister extended his greetings and best wishes for her tenure, expressing confidence that the Patna High Court would continue to uphold the principles of justice, fairness and constitutional values under her leadership.
